Finish and SAL

This is the box that I finally finished up doing the Mystery SAL. Carol was very nice in designing this and I really like how it turned out. My DIL wants one and I guess I'm the one that is going to have to do one for her, since she is just starting to stitch. So for now its in the TO-DO basket.

I'm also participating in a SAL by Angie, mine is called Sweet Flowers . This is my progress so far. I will get another part in a few weeks.

Lantern Lights & Iris & Roses

I have finished the Iris & Roses ornament that I had started before the holidays and ran out of beads, so I had to wait to finish it. I'm glad it's finally done.It is designed by Deb Moffett-Hall.
I have quite a few ornaments made with panels like this one, I enjoy making them even though they are a little time consuming.

This one went a little faster, it's smaller.It's really hard to tell about this one, the ornament I used is a shiny silver. It is designed by Sandra Halpenny.

is another ornament I've just finished. It is done in right angle weave, fringe and netting,This was my first time trying right angle weave, I don't know why I didn't try it before. It wasn't as hard as I imagined. It is designed by Cathy Lampole.

I have another ornament started , that one consists of six panels. I'm about half way thru with them so stay tuned to see that one.
I have a couple of pieces I need to do the finishing on then I'll take pics of those.

I've been doing a little beading lately and finished this ornament over the weekend.
It was in the August issue of Bead & Button magazine and designed by Deb Moffett-Hall. I have made other ornaments that she has designed and really like them.This is called European Motif.

I bought a new ornament stand that holds 16, so I have alot of ornaments to go.

ALL That Jazz

All That Jazz is the name of the pattern, and when I saw it I had to do it because it reminded me of little Sophie. It is beaded with peyote stitch and done with delica beads. It is designed by Deb of the beadcoop.

I've finished the SAL for The Tree of Life. Yiota hosted the SAL on Facebook. I like how it turned out. I'm finished with all my SAL's except for one and I get the last part next week. I can now get back to my basket full of projects waiting to be stitched.

Today is the new moon and time for the orts. I've been adding all the orts from the beginning so it's hard to see the difference from month to month. It is filling up.

Also I have completed part 7 on the istitch mystery sal, only 1 more part to go. I have the box for it stained but haven't lined the inside. I have picked out fabric, but I'm thinking I may want something different now. Anyway, I like how it's coming along.

Well, I have finished the sampler. I like how it turned out, now to decide how to frame it.

I'm got part 6 finished of the mystery SAL with Carol , it's coming along good. I need to stain my box and decide what to do on the inside as far as finishing it. Here it is so far

The Tree of Life SAL is coming along as well, I've completed three pages and getting ready to do page 4.

That's about it for now. I'm ready to start page 4 and am working on the last two parts of the Romantique Sampler.

Well, I have finished the next part of the Romantique Sampler, it took a little longer this month because of all the other things I'm stitching. I participated in a exchange with the Friendly Stitchers yahoo group and the biscornu I sent off never arrived at its destination so I stitched another one and hopefully it will make it. Here's the sampler up to date, just overlook the hoop marks and wrinkles. I was in a hurry to take a pic.

Then a week ago I won a giveaway over here and won the punchneedle and my choice of pattern. She had alot of nice patterns but I settled on the Purple Coneflowers. It's been a long time since I did any of this, hopefully I can squeeze some time out and give this another try.

iStitch Designs Mystery SAL & Other WIP

I have joined another SAL, this makes about 4 now. Will I ever learn. Anyway this one is a mystery and when all stitched will be finished onto a box top. You can read about it here . I'm stitching it on Newcastle 40ct antique white and using Valdani Hand- Overdyed Floss in Mauve Orchid. The pic makes it look dark.

This is another SAL, called The Tree of Life by Klimt. I'm doing this one on Facebook through Yiota'sCross Stitch. I just have page 1 done so far and have page 2 to start .

Now I need to work on the Romantique Sampler before the next part comes.
Wish there was m ore time to stitch and had a couple more hands.

Biscornu Exchange

I participated in a Biscornu Exchange with the Friendly Stitcher's yahoo group. This is the biscornu I received from Denise in Saudi Arabia and I sent one to her. It doesn't look like Denise has received hers and it was mailed in July, so I am stitching her another one.
The biscornu is beautiful and so delicate looking, I just love it.

I've been out of town and busy, so I'm just now getting around to posting my Tu SAL jar.I've had a little more progress in filling it up.

Also my husband surprised me with this crazy quilt door pillow for my birthday. It is made by Pam over at Kitty & Me Designs. I think she has some beautiful things.
Anyway this was one of my gifts and I just love it.

First Crazy Quilt Block

I don't quilt or I should say know the right way to do it and I've always liked the look of crazy quilting. So yesterday, I took a class from Cindy who owns Hooked On Quilting here in Fayetteville. It was a little easier than I thought it would be, but I'm not finished yet. It is an 8 1/2" block. This is it now before the stitching and embellishing.

I need to go thru and see what I have in the way of trims and laces, then get my threads and beads out to start stitching.I may leave this as a single block and finish it off or frame it. Time to decide that when it is complete.
Cindy suggested I go home and make another block while it was fresh to me but Sophie wanted my attention the rest of the day.

As far as the stitching is going I've been working on my SAL's. I have next parts to the Romantique Sampler so I'm doing that and I've just got the July block for the 12 of Hearts BOM. The SAL with Yiota's Cross Stitch on Facebook is going slow , not even thru page 1 yet.
I did another ATC swap for July, I have it ready to mail, I haven't received mine from June yet. I was told it was on its way but Canada was having a postal strike. Will have to wait and see.
Well, I have to pick up my granddaughter, she's going to visit for a couple of days.

Star Sampler Part 6

I hope everyone is having a great 4th of July. Hubby and I are having a nice quiet day at home. I've been stitching and he's been grilling and working on landscaping the front of the house.
I was a little late in getting part 6 of this, but it went very fast today so here it is,

I got started on another SAL, the other day but no pics yet. It is The Tree of Life by Klimt. Yiota's cross stitch on Facebook is hosting that one.

Sometimes I get myself into trouble or think I do.I joined a ATC swap with a group. I had not ever made one before, but they assured me I could do it. So I panicked a little while then went ahead with it. I ended up making 4. I won't post a pic that I ended up sending to my partner until I know it has been received, but here are the others.

This is from the July issue of Cross Stitch & Needlework magazine. It is called Land of the Free. By Alma Allen and Barb Adams of Blackbird Designs. I can't remember what fabric it is, something I had. I used hand dyed cotton floss in place of Bell Soie threads.

I have finished another part of the Romantique Sampler and am loving it, can't wait to finish.That will be several more months, thou. I'm using the recommended colors of threads, which goes well in the room I want to put it in.

In another one I'm doing 12of Hearts BOM, I've finished the May block. I picked out fabric to start trying to put it together, but afraid to jump in and do it since I haven't quilted before.

I seem to be having trouble, can't get the pics to work right. Hopefully I can add the pics later.

Well, I'm a day late in posting my jar of threads. I have had my daughter-in-law and granddaughter visiting and then there were the storms. We only had a tree limb fall in the yard, but my daughter lives in Huntsville and they didn't have power so she and her family were with us for a few days.Everyone is ok and power is restored and in there own homes. Back to the peace and quiet. And stitching!!

Back From The Framers

I got the wedding sampler back from the framers yesterday. I think it turned out good. I didn't get a good pic, maybe hubby can take one for me later when he gets home. Hopefully the kids will like it. It will be a couple of months before I see them to give it to them.

I've been stitching on the Romantique Sampler and will post when finished with this part. I stitched this small 4x4 charted canvas called Spring Flower Garden. It was a freebie on this site. I haven't decided how I will finish it. Any ideas?

Swap Received and a Finish

I participated in a spring swap hosted by Parsley and yesterday I received my swap from my partner Jill . As it turns out I had the same person that had my name. I received the cutest little spring hand towel with chicks on it, a little scratch pad and ribbon, also a cute little bear figure. And pretty spring colors of DMC. For the handmade item she made a biscornu. It is so cute with bunnies and chicks and carrots on it. She says it was her first time making a biscornu, but she did a beautiful job.Thank you so much Jill.

I finally got around to doing this pattern I have had for a few months. The stitching went fine, it was when I was doing the finishing that I had problems. What you would think would take probably an hour at the least to do, took forever for me to do. At least it seems that way. I'm not good with sewing machines. But I guess all in all it turned out ok. The pattern is called Journal Rose by Crabapple Hill.

And this is Jan. thru March, I'm going to look for fabric soon and try putting together what I have done so far. I've never quilted before so this is going to be an adventure. Send any tips or suggestions my way.

I also stitched on my Romantique Sampler SAL, I've finished thru part 6 and am awaiting the next part.

I also stitched a piece for a swap I'm doing but can't show you that yet.

I got a comment from Parsley that Sophie wanted me to blog about her. I enjoy reading Parsley's blog about her babies and the ones she sits for,I guess I have been a bad mom for not talking about her. I'm sorry to say I don't have any recent photos of her but here are some from her birthday and a few from Christmas.

She turned a year old in November of 2010. These are a few of the things she got for her birthday.She hates to wear sweaters or anything but I keep trying.I thought the little shirt was to cute.

This is her Christmas goodies, as you can see I bought her a sweater and found a pretty dress. She still doesn't like to wear anything, but she will let me put a sweater on her if she knows I'm taking her with me.

She looked so cute in the dress.

This is the bed I made her, she only uses it during the day in the living room.

This design by Little House Needleworks was in Issue 43 of The Gift of Stitching , and I have had the kit for
little while and have finally got it finished, I used the recommended threads and fabric.It needs pressing.

I purchased a frame for it,just haven't had time to get it done yet. Hopefully before long and then I'll post a pic of it framed.

It's the new moon and time to post the ort jar. I have a little more added this month.

I also finished this piece. I had stitched it a while back but never did the finishing. I decided to make it into a little pin pillow yesterday.The design is by My Big Toe Designs for Camp Stitchalot. I purchased a grab bag from a online needlework store and it was in it.

Back and ............. A little done

Well, it's been a while. I went to visit my son, who is finally within driving distance after 15 years. He is in the Air Force and has always been stationed overseas of this last tour ,he was in Alaska. Now he's in Arkansas, only about 6-7 hours away,except if there is snow or ice as was the day he arrived in Little Rock. We were supposed to pick him and his wife up at the airport but the day before Little Rock got pounded with snow. We got it here in Tn. late Wednesday evening. Thrusday morning when we got up in get ready to leave the roads were a little slick. We waited a few hours til the sun was shining and melted some of it away and made good progress til we got into Arkansas. Then it took us 11 1/2 hours to go 100 miles. It was terrible.
But that is over and they got settled, came here for a short visit also.

So finally I have done a little stitching, the first is the second block of the 12 of Hearts BOM from The Raspberry Rabbit . I still haven't picked the fabric for it.

The second thing I've been stitching on is The Romantique Sampler. I've got parts 1-4 finished. It is coming along nicely. I'm very happy with it and can't wait to finish it. It is a 10 month SAL so it will be a while.

I've got a couple other things going but haven't taken the pics for those yet.

I saw the 12 of Hearts BOM at the Raspberry Rabbits and thought I would like to try this. Well, I finally got around to stitching the first block. I used the floss recommended. It is Valdani Floss. I haven't picked my fabric yet that I will use.
I'm not a quilter but would like to learn so maybe I can get it all together when all 12 blocks are stitched.So here is the first block stitched.

Valentine Swap Goodies

I participated in a Valentine sway that Parsley hosted. I received my goodies from Emily and wanted to share. She went some wonderful beads, I need to find something to make with them, a cute little pink jar that will hold my buttons or orts. She also sent a pretty little journal and some notepads, I can't have too many of those.
For the stitched piece she made a cute little teddy bear holding a bouquet of balloons. I love it.
And of course what would a Valentine exchange be with out candy, several varieties of candy and mug with candy .

Today is the new moon and time a post a pic. I have added a little more this month as the frogs came for a little visit while trying to finish this piece.

This is the piece I finished. I have had the chart for about a year and finally got around to doing it. I really like it. I used 28ct Natural Cashel Linen and the recommended floss colors. Now to see about framing.

Romantique Sampler

I'm doing this sampler by Angie. She sent the first two parts this month and each month for 10 months we will get a part. It is going to be a pretty piece when completed. My picture didn't turn out to well. Too much glare.
Maybe you can tell better with what I have stitched. I'm waiting on part 3 which will come in February. I'm stitching it on 32ct. linen antique white with the suggested colors. Just happens to match my bedroom and master bath.

Well it seems that I have lost everything I had on my blog. I was trying to change backgrounds and I'm a total idiot when it comes to computers, so I think I deleted everything by mistake. It may take a while to get things back. Maybe Hubby can help, since that's his thing.

What are your resolutions for 2011?
I'm not much on making resolutions, but I have decided to use what I have in my stash to stitch up this year. I have more patterns and projects that I can do in my lifetime, as I'm sure many of you do.Soooooo, unless I need a piece of fabric for a particular piece I'm going to use what I have.
I'm sure that will make hubby very happy, even though he is really good about that. He actually got me got a bit of things for Christmas, including 2 pairs of scissors.

I don't have anything to show, I've not got much done lately. My mother has been here for several weeks so needless to say not getting much stitching done.I was hoping to finish a couple of things by the end of the year so I could start fresh in the new year. Maybe, we'll have to see.

Some Embroidery

I've started doing a little bit of embroidery lately, I found this cute design looking at different blogs and one lead to another and I found it here. I had to do it. Since Sophie is black I did the outline in black , gave her a pink collar and did the background in different pins. I'm not sure how I will finish it, maybe a little cushion.

Then my granddaughter drew this and wanted me to embroidery it, I'm not sure if this is someone else's design or something she drew.It needs to be pressed yet. She picked out DMC's satin floss for me to stitch it in, I didn't really like it. It doesn't do well if you have dry hands. She hasn't decided yet how she wants to finish it.

Some More Sewing

My daughter-in-law was wanting a apron and I thought I could probably make one. Yeah, me, the one who is intimidated by the sewing machine. My husband and I went to a craft show a few weeks ago and a girl had some aprons that she had made, I looked but didn't see what I thought my DIL would like so skipped them. Hubby said you can make one as good as hers, why not make one for her. Duh, you forget I can't sew. Anyway...
it took longer than the normal person I'm sure but here is the finished apron. I just hope she likes it.
It's being wrapped up and mailed today.

This is a biscornu I received from Bonnie in the Please Pass the Biscornu exchange.It's called O Morning Star by The Work Basket.I don't have any like this and I really like quilt patterns so this is very nice. This is the last of these. I didn't receive two, one lady dropped out and the girl who started the exchange disappeared almost immediately after it all started.

I have a few other things going but forget to take pics of those when I have the camera out. Hopefully next time.

Getting Ready for Christmas

It's hard to believe Christmas is upon us. I decided to make stockings for my grandchildren this year. These four are for them, the two below are for my son and his wife. Now all I need to do is pack them up and send them to Alaska. My son is in the Air Force and current;y stationed there.

This was a SAL with Stitcher's Showcase that we started on January 2010, and had the whole year to do.I just finished stitching it today. It is stitched on 28ct. antique white jobelan using DMC Color Variations #4200.Now I have to decide how I want to frame it.

My Hand at Sewing

I needed a couple of accent pillows for the bed and thought I could make some even though I'm a little intimidated by the sewing machine. I've made a few things before, some you could tell what they were supposed to be some not. Anyway I found a pattern for pillows called Sewing For Dummies. I had been wanting a round neck roll pillow and it just happened to have one in it. It really was quite simple to make this one.I'm really happy with it.Now I just may try some others.
The picture is very good, I guess too much light. The bedspread is a misty jade color and it looks white in the pic.But the pillow looks good and hubby really liked it. That's always good.

This biscornu is from Classic Stitches magazine. It is called Honey Bees. It is stitched on 28ct. off white jobelan with the recommended threads. I put a flower bead in the center.

This design is a freebie from Kreinik. I don't remember the name of it. I've had it stitched for awhile but didn't know how I wanted to finish it.Finally decided to do as a box.

And this is another one that has been stitched for awhile. I've seen other bloggers make these cute little pillows, so I decided to try my hand at it. I need some more practice at the sewing machine. It is a design by Elizabeth's Designs called Dragon III.

Mail Day & A Finish

I participated in a Humbug Exchange at Stitchin Fingers and this is the humbug I received from Melissa. She couldn't find a pattern for a humbug,so she adapted a design from a band sampler. She didn't know that I really like the bargello look so I just love this little humbug. It couldn't be more perfect for me.It is such delicate stitching.

Also the Hand Embroidery group at Stitcher's showcase was doing a challenge on the stem stitch and I made this little ornament.It is a design by Bird Brain Designs. Most of the Redwork I have done is by using the back stitch. I think I like using stem stitch better.Anyway I need to practice my stitches on this more, I have a pattern for a pillow I want to make.

I have finally finished stitching all the biscornus for Please Pass the Biscornu exchange. The gal who started the exchange dropped out of sight early on and no one heard from her, then she closed the blog down so we all had to wing it. It was a little frustrating since that was my very first exchange.I'm told not all exchanges are that way.The humbug exchange went very well.
I'll try to remember to take some pics of my wip when I get the camera back out.

TU SAL

Well, I think I'm only a day late in posting my Tu SAL for this month. It's filling up pretty good.I've got just one biscornu to make for the exchange. It has not been a good experience, for my first time exchanging.All the ladies I exchanged with were very nice, but the one who organized it seemed to disappear and no one has heard from her nor received a biscornu from her. Oh well, life goes on.

I'm working on a couple other things and I'll try to get some pics up soon.

I just got some more new patterns. Not that I need any more things to start. I only have about 5 things going at once. It's always fun to get more. Where will I begin?

I thought I would try my hand at doing some Redwork as well, so I found these to do.I think I will start with the basket of flowers at the top. I may try to finish up a few pieces first before tackling it.

I got a couple of books about Crazy Quilting but forgot to take a pic of those. I would like to learn how to do that, too.

I have the house cleaned and something cooking for the company arriving this afternoon.I can finally catch my breath and relax a little.

I've had these two pieces stitched since 2009. Maryse did a Pin Keep SAL, and I finally got around to the finishing. They are March and April, I put March on a box.

Hohla designed this biscornu in August. I started it then and got behind with everything that went on, so I have finally finished it. It is call Biscornu Butterflies. I used DMC variations #4090 and Ozark Sampler thread Cancun Sunset. I added seed beads and crystals also. Not my usual colors but thought it turned out nice. I really the the designs she comes up with.She is very talented.

Well time to get some coffee and relax, maybe get a stitch or two in.

do we spend hours or even days scrubbing and cleaning the house when we have friends and family coming to visit? By the time you finish cleaning you're so tired, you just want to have some quite time. Then after they arrive in a matter of 10 minutes or so things are in chaos once again. And after they leave you spend hours and days cleaning up again. Sometimes I think it would be better to just leave it til after everyone goes home.
Anyway, that's what I'm doing this week and grocery shopping for family that is coming this week end.
I would rather be in my chair stitching, seems I haven't got many stitches in so far this week.

Well, I guess I better get back to it, I have a few more floors to clean. Til later

TU SAL & A Biscornu

Well, it's been awhile since I've posted much. My husband had to go out of town for work so I decided to go with him, and then we were back a few days and got a call with a death in the family so we had to leave again. Now hopefully everything is getting back to normal. I didn't get any stitching done while I was away and I totally for got about the TU SAL. So here is my post for Sept.

I did this biscornu by Pine Glen Designs . It is called Garden Glory. I like the colors used, reminds me of spring.

I'm doing a humbug exchange with the Stitchin Fingers group. This is the first humbug I have done so I hope my partner likes it.I can't post a pic yet since I haven't sent it off yet. I will as soon as I can.
I guess I'll try to get some more stitching done.

Also I am very late in posting my TU SAL.It is getting fuller even though I haven't been posting pics. I have been doing the biscornus each month for the PPTB, I need to take some pics of the one that have been received .Another day since it is raining and cloudy and they would be so dark. Since it was so hot my husband and I decided to go looking around at some antique shops yesterday. We drove over to Hartselle, AL. They had quite a few stores and I found this rocker. I love old chairs and rockers and we couldn't believe they only wanted $40 for it.It is in pretty good shape, not rickety like some we've seen.I put it in my front room and hubby has been enjoying sitting in it. We'll have to see if I can get him out for some more looking one day.

in posting my TU SAL jar for July. There's a little progress but not alot of pics to show, since I'm still doing the biscornu's for Please Pass the Biscornu exchange.

I found this design at Rainbow Gallery.I t is charted needlepoint designed by Laura J. Perin Designs for Rainbow Gallery. I love all forms of needlework and want to learn needlepoint one day, (I can do some of the stitches) I decided to try this. I really enjoyed doing it. I decided to use what was called for in the pattern because I really liked the colors, so I had to order the floss. Now to decide how to finish it, whether to frame it or make it into a little cushion.Maybe even a box top.

I've got a couple of pieces in the works I need to finish and I am waiting on more threads to arrive to do another charted needlepoint design on there website.

This is some of the other stuff I do sometimes, so since I have been posting my cross stitch finishes and posting about some give-aways, I decided to show a few of the beaded ornaments I have made. These are all done using delica beads.The ornaments on the far right were made with seed beads. The Santa in the background is also beaded.These are just some of the ones I have made that I have.

This is called Crazy Quilt. It is also beaded using delica beads. I used a small frame I found at Hobby Lobby to frame it.

This biscornu was a freebie I found here. She has some great designs. I really like the way this turned out. I stitched it using Sulky Blendables thread and found some Mill Hill beads that matched it really well. I decided not to put a button or anything in the center. It is filled with crushed walnut shells.

I've always wanted to learn Hardanger, but when it came to cutting I was always afraid to do it. I might cut the wrong threads and so on. The online magazine The Gift of Stitching started a Hardanger course each month. I ordered the kit for it and have finished the first 3 classes. The pic isn't very good and I think I need to trim it a bit more, but all in all it turned out ok. It was much easier than I thought. The next ones may not be.

Blackbird Design. I really enjoyed stitching this.I will definitely look for other BBD to stitch now.
I used the recommended thread but the fabric was in my stash and I can't recall the color. I have others talk about using crushed walnut shells to stuff their things and it was suggested in the finishing instructions, so I was in the pet store the other day and found some. So this is stuffed with the walnut shells. I like the way it turned out.

Stitchin Fingers Card Exchange

I participated in a card exchange on Stitchin Fingers cross stitch group and this is the card I got from Gina. She lives in Australia. I sent to her,may take a few days to get there.I forgot to take a pic of the card I stitched for her. Maybe she will post a pic and I can get it from her. This was my first card exchange and it went well, there wasn't many that signed up.

Bargello Pincuhion

This was in the July 2010 issue of Cross Stitch& Needlwork and I have always wanted to learn to do needlepoint,so this is my first attempt at Bargello and I really liked it. My finishing skills are not the best, but hopefully will get better. I used DMC Perle #5 instead of the Kreinik Silk Mori that was suggested.
I stuffed it with poly fil.
I have read on other blogs about using crushed walnut shells and they seem to really like it. I will have to look for some and give it a try.

Last week I was in Missouri visiting my mother and we went in a little antique shop and I found this Fenton milk glass basket.I'm a big fan of Fenton glass and don't have milk glass in my collection so I had to have it. I also got this little candy dish. The lady at the shop said she thought it was Fenton as well but I'm not sure. I will have to do some searching to see if it really is.Doesn't matter, I like it anyway.
